Classic Apple Pie by monpuchikissa Classic Apple Pie by monpuchikissa
Do you have any craving for your grandmother’s apple pie? This traditional dessert is a favourite comfort food during fall season.

For this attempt, I sculpted the whole pie. It is quite different from what I have made previously.

Yuuuummm. I love apple pie! Last fall, I went to a town called Julian where they're known for their apples to go apple picking and of course eat really good apple pie. I must say that your little apple pie here looks just a yummy, if not more. I also love how you set up this photo with all the apples and apple haves! :D

I like it!  It has such a warm, homey feel to it, and all of the tiny little details are great! (I'm shocked that you added cloves in the filling! At least I think they're cloves . . .)  My mouth is watering just looking at it, it looks so genuine. XD The spoon, cutting board, and all the little apples are a nice touch, they add an extra something to the picture that makes it seem to shine more.  The lighting is pretty too, with the slight brown tints in the shadows blending nicely with the subjects.

If there was something here for me to critique, then I think that some of the elements of the sculpting look a little big for what you're scaling down.  The strips making up the apple pie's crust seem a bit thick, and I also think that the seeds and the stems in the apples are a little large. (imagine scaling that up to real-life size.  It seems like it would be more like a small pit rather than an individual seed, doncha think?) but I'm assuming that anything smaller would be a pain to create, so I guess I can dismiss it for simple limitations of the medium.
Great job!

cloves would taste bad, it is likely cinnamon since that is what usually goes in apple pie XD

Oh, no, I've seen apple pies around that have cloves in them and since normally I'd assume that ground cinnamon would be too fine to emulate or see clearly in such a small representation I assumed that she had detailed it with whole cloves.
What makes you think that cloves make pie taste bad?

really? i have never seen a recipe for it or seen one with cloves XD

clove is a very strong flavor that overpowers anything subtle. apple pie is distinct as a whole but it's parts are subtle so a softer spice like cinnamon or nutmeg makes more sense, it is also the only way i have heard of it being done and i bake quite regularly and come from a family of people who love baking XD

I won't question your baking finesse.  I've only ever seen it used sparingly in pies so I guess that keeps it from overpowering the rest of the dessert?

maybe, i know it takes about 6 to flavor an entire baking ham and you have to take the cloves out before you eat it

of course it could just be location XD
